With regards to your question on the honor killing thread:

The crimes listed are an ongoing problem in Germany. My guess would be that you are most likely interested in the neo-facist category:

There is an increase in neo-facist crime in Germany in generell. It is mostly in the former East Germany due to many economic issues. The crimes range from sever beatings to setting asylum homes on fire. At the moment the German government is trying to prevent further spread, but of course this is difficult, given the lack of perspective in many East German towns at this point.

As far as animosity towards foreigners goes, he is correct in that as well. Once again some of it can be attributed to the bad economy and increased spread of poverty due to the Euro and companies leaving Germany. The other half of the problem is the sheer size of the muslim community in Germany, which demands changes in basic laws and customs to facilitate their religion. Sometimes it is little things, such as removing crosses from classrooms, other times it is bigger changes that are demanded. Needless to say that the Germans will not tolerate a change of their laws solely to cater to others.

There is also an upward trend of youth, with an immigration background, committing crimes. Just a few months back an elderly man was nearly beaten to deaths in a subway station, because he asked them not to smoke.

So yes, there are problems, and there probably always will be, but as a German I most likely will have a bit of a different perspective then Borham as a foreigner.
